A native of the United States, John grew up in the US and completed his education in 1991 at the Arizona State University School of Architecture. He began his Spa career in 1989 with Marriott's Camelback Inn in Scottsdale, Arizona as an Assistant Spa Director and remained there for 10 years. He was responsible for daily operations in a 45 treatment bed facility and learned all aspects of salon operations, retail merchandizing, spa treatments and services.
In 1999, John joined the Tampa Marriott Waterside in Florida as Director of Spa and Recreation. He implemented all the Spa philosophy, culture and policies during the pre-opening of a 700 room hotel. He also assisted Marriott and Renaissance Corporate by consulting and re-branding of several hotels.
In 2001, John joined the Ritz Carlton in Doha Qatar as Director of Spa and Recreation and was responsible for the 20,000 square feet spa and sports facility. During that time, he recreated spa and fitness menus themed on Asian, Arabic and European influences reflecting local interests and culture. In addition, he was responsible for all aspects of resort recreation which included Ritz-kids programs, tennis clinics and tournaments, as well as pool and beach activities.
In 2003, John moved to Mexico and accepted the position of Spa Director at the JW Marriott Cancun. Over the following two year period, John led a team of 90 Spa and Salon professionals who were recognized by Conde Nast Traveler magazine being among the Top 50 Best Spas in the world. He also assisted Renaissance Hotels on the Team of International Spa Design and Operations.
In 2005, John returned once again to the Middle East and accepted the position of General Manager to a new luxurious 175,000 square feet Spa and Fitness Club in Kuwait city, Kuwait. He was responsible for all aspects of the club including budget, service, and quality and led a staff of more than 120 employees.
In 2006, John moved to Beirut, Lebanon and accepted the position of Director of Spa Operations at the Intercontinental Phoenicia. During that time, he was responsible for creating a new concept, revising operating procedures and creating new collateral.
Having joined the Jordan Valley Marriott Resort & Spa in March 2007 as the Director of Spa and Recreation, John is happy to join the Executive Committee team at the Resort, and ready to embark on his new assignment.
